Cambridge Folk Festival

This is a regular for me. A real highpoint of the year.

Funny thing is though, I don't like folk music! Not the British Isle stuff, at least. If it's a band playing traditional English, Welsh, Scottish or Irish songs then I'm off in the opposite direction.

But it's not like I hate it all. In fact there's loads that's good.

It's the more unusual international ones I like. American banjo songs. Middle Eastern rambling pieces. Indian pop songs. Anything like that. There were some gems this year. Ben Miller Band. Amsterdam Klezmer Band and some Canadian group. Great.

But there's more to the festival than the music. There's lots of other fun. Workshops and Ceilidhs. Kids sessions and open mike times. Lots of real ale and sunshine.

What's not to like? Hopefully I'll be there next year, all being well. Looking forward to it already.
