It was a celebration of Stan Laurel, held on his birthday in his home town, Ulverston.
There was comedy and street performers. Bands and drummers. Apparently Paul Merton appeared at the Coronation Hall and many of the pubs had music on into the night.
Highlights for me were Deat Beats drumming band and Blast Furness playing in the Market Place. Because it was such wonderful weather people were happy to join in and there was a relaxed feel. That was the best thing about it. Although it was only a small event: it wasn't Glastonbury or the Edinburgh Festival, the whole town seemed to get involved. Cafe, shops and restaurants had artwork and music. Parents danced with their children and participated in comedy shows.
And I think Stan Laurel would have enjoyed it.
