Regressionomics: how to safely dismantle an industrial economy

Business managers talk about blue-sky thinking.

How about deep-space thinking, ideas so far from the day to day most people believe you are insane?

After five hundred years of progress we are now at the point where European culture and values straddle the globe. As imperialism has been replaced by globalisation the economic system has adapted and increased its membership, reaching a point where the world's inhabited continents are all ensnared in industrial capitalism.

With problems haunting many sectors, answers have been sought as how to best return the global economy to a growth phrase. Few in the mainstream media have asked more fundamental questions as to the direction society should follow and whether it is time to abandon the whole concept of growth, development and even progress.

Maybe we should forget the failed route of industrial improvement and take an alternative approach. Instead of moving forwards we should move back, retreat, regress.

Economics is dead. Long live Regressionomics.
